What this forecast doesn’t measure, and when to get help.
Google’s index covers tree, grass and weed pollen only, so there is no mold level for Lincoln on this page. The National Allergy Bureau publishes pollen and mold counts measured at its stations. Our guides cover common molds such as Alternaria, Cladosporium and Aspergillus.
The forecast doesn’t cover allergens indoors either: dust mites, cockroaches, mice, cats and dogs. Our guides explain each one, starting with dust mites and cats.
An estimated 9.4% of adults in the city of Lincoln have current asthma, according to the CDC’s PLACES estimate for 2023 (95% confidence interval: 8.4% to 10.3%). It is a statistical estimate from national survey data, not a count.
8 allergists enrolled in Medicare practice in the Lincoln area: 2.27 for every 100,000 people, more than the 1.22 across the US. The count doesn’t show how soon you can get an appointment. See the doctors listed in the Lincoln area, or how every state and metro compares.

The geography, climate and plants behind each season here, with a source for every fact.
A University of Nebraska State Museum team began catching, counting and identifying airborne pollen in 1990.2 In 2001, the team sampled five days a week, from late February through mid-October, at a station on the roof of an annex between Nebraska Hall and the Walter Scott Engineering Center.2 Nebraska Wesleyan University now counts pollen five days a week from February through mid-October.3 At the airport, a typical year has about 171 days between the last spring freeze and the first fall freeze.1
The museum’s counts showed tree pollen peaking in April and May.2 The tree groups that produced the most pollen were elm, juniper, ash, cottonwood, oak, mulberry and pine.2 Grass pollen season began in May, at the peak of tree pollen output, and cool-season grasses such as bluegrass flowered most in June.2
July brought a slight break: the trees had finished, grass counts dropped, and the weeds had not yet bloomed.2 The museum called August and September the high point of the year, when warm-season grasses and late-summer weeds flowered.2 Nebraska is home to four major groups of late-summer weeds: nettle, marijuana, pigweed type and ragweed.2 By October, counts dropped rapidly as the weeds passed their peak flowering time.2

Very little. None of the plants Google models is above 0 in Lincoln today.
No. It’s Google’s modeled pollen index, from 0 (none) to 5 (very high), calculated for the location of central Lincoln. A pollen count is the number of pollen grains measured in a cubic meter of air at a counting station. How our pollen index works.
Twice a day. We fetch new values soon after midnight in Lincoln, so each day starts with its own values, and again after Google’s daily model run, usually by about 9:30 am CT. Each section shows when its values were retrieved.
Since October 14, 2026. The year in pollen above fills in as each day is recorded, and weeks before then show no data. Google doesn’t provide past values, so nothing earlier can be added.
