AllergyNest

Accessibility Statement

Our accessibility target for AllergyNest, what we already do, what we’re still testing, and how to report a barrier.

We want everyone to be able to use AllergyNest, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard or other assistive technology.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

No independent audit of AllergyNest has been done yet, so we don’t claim that the site conforms to this standard.

What we already do

  • A “Skip to content” link lets you jump past the navigation to the main content.
  • Pages use semantic headings and landmarks, so you can move around them with a screen reader.
  • Links and forms work with a keyboard.
  • Pollen levels are shown as a number and a word, not by color alone. The one exception is the weekly chart of a metro’s year in pollen, which uses color. It comes with a text summary, a legend, and a table that gives each week’s level as a number and a word.
  • The month strips that show when an allergen is usually in the air have text labels for screen readers.
  • Text scales with your browser’s font size settings.

Known limitations

Many pages are new and haven’t yet been tested with a screen reader. You may find problems we haven’t fixed yet. If you do, please tell us.

Report a barrier

If something on AllergyNest is hard or impossible for you to use, email hello@allergynest.com with the subject “Accessibility”. Please include:

  • the address (URL) of the page;
  • what you were trying to do, and what happened;
  • the assistive technology you use, if any, and your browser.

We aim to reply within 5 business days. We aim to fix the problem, and in the meantime to give you the information you need another way, for example by email. Google’s pollen values are the exception: Google’s terms let us show them only on our web pages.
