What this forecast doesn’t measure, and when to get help.
Google’s index covers tree, grass and weed pollen only, so there is no mold level for Baltimore on this page. The National Allergy Bureau publishes pollen and mold counts measured at its stations. Our guides cover common molds such as Alternaria, Cladosporium and Aspergillus.
The forecast doesn’t cover allergens indoors either: dust mites, cockroaches, mice, cats and dogs. Our guides explain each one, starting with dust mites and cats.
An estimated 12.7% of adults in the city of Baltimore have current asthma, according to the CDC’s PLACES estimate for 2023 (95% confidence interval: 11.5% to 14.0%). It is a statistical estimate from national survey data, not a count.
53 allergists enrolled in Medicare practice in the Baltimore area: 1.85 for every 100,000 people, more than the 1.22 across the US. The count doesn’t show how soon you can get an appointment. See the doctors listed in the Baltimore area, or how every state and metro compares.

The geography, climate and plants behind each season here, with a source for every fact.
Tree of heaven makes up 13.5 percent of Baltimore’s estimated 1.9 million live trees, more than any other species, according to the Forest Service’s 2020 assessment of the city’s urban forest.2 Northern white-cedar, American elm, green ash and Norway maple are next by number.2 Yellow-poplar contributes the most leaf area, about 9 percent of the total.2
Red maple is one of the first trees to flower in early spring, and in Maryland it flowers from March to April.3 A typical year at Baltimore/Washington International Airport has about 204 days between the last spring freeze and the first fall freeze, and winters average about 37 °F.1 Maryland lies in a climate transition zone, where temperate and subtropical climates meet.4 Tall fescue, the most widely grown cool-season grass in the region, is the recommended lawn grass for most Maryland homes.4
Common ragweed, a summer annual, grows in cultivated crops, orchards, roadsides and meadows, according to University of Maryland Extension.5 It prefers heavy, moist soils and does not tolerate frequent mowing.5 Its pollen release begins in the middle of the growing season, peaks by late summer and ends with a killing frost.6 Wind can carry the light pollen up to 400 miles.6
Answered from the values on this page.
Very little. None of the plants Google models is above 0 in Baltimore today.
No. It’s Google’s modeled pollen index, from 0 (none) to 5 (very high), calculated for the location of central Baltimore. A pollen count is the number of pollen grains measured in a cubic meter of air at a counting station. How our pollen index works.
Twice a day. We fetch new values soon after midnight in Baltimore, so each day starts with its own values, and again after Google’s daily model run, usually by about 10:30 am ET. Each section shows when its values were retrieved.
Since October 14, 2026. The year in pollen above fills in as each day is recorded, and weeks before then show no data. Google doesn’t provide past values, so nothing earlier can be added.
